Well Hello Cornwall!

I am finally here, in this remote corner of the United Kingdom. The butterflies shot out the second I glimpsed the sign Penryn (thatta way) and got even worse fluttering furiously away when I saw the next sign entitled, Tremough Campus. Oh it's all real now. After months, weeks, days, hours, it's seconds away, it's now. It's cliche-ishly all a bit surreal, I am sitting here in my flat room typing away. Which is by the way dead to the world-my flatmates are much more social then I but utterly lovely-to be honest though you would all be unsocial if you hadn't slept for 2 days and being the avid sleeper I am I am dying here. Anyway, after trekking 7 hours from my awesome hometown of Brighton I finally arrived only to find out I had to drag my possibly 18 bags of luggage up a flight of stairs, thankfully my brother helped. Man do I not travel light! I have more kitchen stuff then needed and way to much food. Within 2 hours, a takeaway indian, some shifting about, pin stabbing and bluetacking moments to adore I was flicking away with my Kodak to capture the first-and last time-my room was cleaned, and here are these moments for you to enjoy. (Yes I know it's not clinically clean at least it's neat-ish) Also sorry for the awful photography just that that my finger isn't visible in any photo....

>My door, I had extra photos/certificates/postcards to put up so I decided I would build on this collage throughout the year ;)

> My view from my door, big table, photo collage on bookcase, printer, personal kettle, laptop and matching chair and curtains snazzy

> My ironing board, double bed with lovely overhead light, and my prized pineapple (who needs a pot plant when you can add a tropical feel and eat it after ((which is what we did))

>My noticeboard minus any notices, you might have noticed that neither of my posters go together, well thats just me I am an eclectic mix, another montage of photos, my free cat calendar (I hate cats) and my best friends handmade birthday card

>A view of my desk, I even have a phone and lots of mugs so special.

>My ensuite soo shiny

> My ensuite, I have an excellent shower and snazzy towels

> I have a safe which I don't know how to open but ah well I don't have valuables I am cheap (see Argos Value box)

 > My wardrobe, select clothes which all really need ironing...we'll see.

Well this is mi casa for the next 3 months then I fly back home for Xmas...scary scary thoughts.... this is where the journey begins.

And so the shopping ceases

2 sleeps to go till I head down to the South West of England to my new home for the next 2 years...being a Law student I will be spending my final year at Exeter's main campus but I am hoping to spend a year abroad in either Australia, America or Italy (hopefully) While the butterflies begin to unfurl from the cocoons they were safely wrapped up in I thought I'd take a moment to show a glimpse of the food I am trekking down with...

I have everything from yeast and flour for those cheeky home-made pizza nights, to linguine, fusilli, macaroni, noodles, chickpeas and yes I have seasalt! This is only a smidgen of the stuff I am taking that is edible (oh yeah I also have balsamic vinegar and paprika with chilli flakes I am so food cultured :D) I have about  3 bags filled with food! I am ready for any food based emergency all I need to get when I go to Penryn will be my trusty soya milk (I am not a fan of milk, milk) and some fresh herbs and vegetables and soon I will have recipe based posts to publish (fingers crossed) And for all my Campus readers I did not forget my Popcorn kernals for our cinematic rendezvous I can hear the pop, pop, pop of the kernals in the not-so-distant distance...

To have and to hold

Last Sunday

Only 6 more sleeps left till I will be in transit hurtling towards my destination of Falmouth, Cornwall (Well Penryn to be precise) And as tradition states nothing can go smoothly for me when I am looking forward to something. First off I burn myself across my face with my hair curlers, lovely scar on my cheek. Sweet. I end up having to sport this wonderful darkening everyday scar for 2 weeks, and then when it finally clears I cut the top of my mouth. Great! Now I cannot eat or drink anything apart from lukewarm water without screaming in pain, I am a complete and utter wimp. This whole females have a stronger pain threshold thing, not true for me must have been missing in my genetic make-up. The worst thing about my swollen mouth is that I can't eat biscuits and I love biscuits, I could eat biscuits all day preferably with a nice mug of hot Tetleys, that in my view is bliss...So then I wander aimlessly around my house thinking what next, burnt face, sore mouth, biscuit deficiancy what can I possibly do to add to my list of maladies. I decide to step right on a shockingly rusty drawing pin. Cue a lot of screaming, internally. If there is one thing I don't do folks, that is scream out loud. I will laugh and laugh I do a lot, but I don't scream and I rarely, rarely cry in the public eye (nice rhyme there) I must have twice in my whole life but I was pretty young then. I pulled the drawing pin out of the bottom of my heel, no blood. So I thought maybe I got away with it, no repercussions. Yeah right. Within a few moments my heel took revenge by swelling up and making it impossible for me to stand normally without wanting to burst in to tears and fall over. If these injuries do not clear up I am going to be one unsociable undergraduate at Freshers, unable to talk or eat, unable to stand or walk. I will be stuck in my room staring wistfully at a box of chocolate digestives waiting and waiting for my much delayed mail...

(N.B) Don't worry if my heel doesn't sort itself out by Monday I will see my GP it's the weekend and I can't be bothered to sit in A/E for something relatively minor when I still have time to get medical attention.

I shall leave you all with one of my most favourite songs ever, it is called Jadu Jadu Jadu (Translates as Magic, Magic, Magic) from the film Yaraana. Honestly even if you don't understand hindi/urdu I would recommend a listen it is a great song acted by two brilliant actors.

The first rule of Fight Club...

Okay, okay I know I know I have only just blogged my first post and here's another one but I am in a prolific mood right now so I thought use it while it lasts, eh.

So as my Freshers Fortnight approaches I have been busy trying to construe some appropriate costumes for the traditional dress up events. The first one being the Pirate Party which obviously consists of FreshStudents dressing up as swashbuckling awesomness. I hit a conundrum of epic proportions, do I spend my limited cash on ebay fancy dress attire and go all out on the partay or do I wisely spend my money on key pieces which I can alter about to vaguely resemble a pirate of some sort which I can also use in my day to day wardrobe? Hmm I thought, after flicking through my one true loves website (Topshop) I came to the best conclusion I would buy a dress, nice and simple, a white shirt which I can tie at the front wear tights and my boots grab a pirate hat dirt cheap from ebay and curl my hair. That's close to pirate attire right...?
I ended up purchasing the following items:

Both of them are found online on the Topshop website. I felt I could do things with these which I wouldn't be able to do with a fully fledged all out pirate outfit, pretty wise spending I'd say. They are both made of beautiful fabric and are very soft and comfortable I am going to be a contemporary pirate =) I will pair them with my everyday ankle (Topshop again) brown miley boots and a pirate hat indeed purchased from ebay hoping to channel an Anamarie look from POTC (shown below) I will curl my hair loosely and mess it up a little to get that dishevelled just been on the Pearl m'hearty look. (Fingers crossed!)

Well that is my choice for the Pirate do but what do I do about the PsychoCircus, we are talking fire jugglers, wacky circus acts and all at night...ideas given rang around freaky ringmaster all cirque du solei-ish. But that just isn't me, you would never catch me in a corset or anything of that kind, I am way to conservative for my own good. I do understand that fancy dress isn't about what you normally wear you are meant to embody a character but I champion comfort over all things and I would never be comfortable in thigh skimming boots, fish nets, hot pants and a corset (which some will be wearing) Instead I decided to gear more towards the psycho element of the PsychoCircus event. This got me thinking, Psycho, Psycho, Psycho. And this cropped up,

Yes Christian Bale from American Psycho. I quickly purchased fake blood from Ebay, I could splash that all over me and then (here's where the blog title comes in) I thought who plays psycho amazingly just a little lass called Helena Bonham Carter. I am talking Marla from Fight Club (yeah she wasn't but she looked it and it's a great film) and Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter!

All I could think about was crazy backcombing of my hair which is pretty dark so you could pretend it's black for the night, and lots and lots and lots more eyeliner and mascara to imitate the deranged look. See! Cheap fancy dress ideas, all I needed to buy was a new eyeliner pencil (I use liquid gel by Maybelline it is AMAZING and Rimmel Kohl liner but mine died its just one sharpener experiance away from being a shaving this is technically not a buy as such as I already needed to buy a new one) some fake blood which was about £2. Clothing wise I recently purchased a dark purple fit and flare style dress from Tesco, yes I know not uber fashionista style store but it was very nice and simple. I can pair the dress with my black gladiator heels, black tights and my black long cardi, crazy psycho DONE!
So the moral of this story is, you can dress up in next to nothing or by making smart consumer choices, what I have done has allowed me to have various new outfits for a variety of different things AND I don't waste anything apart from now I will have a pirate hat for no other use but hey I might just use it on a normal day at  a lecture anyone dare point out the obscurity and I might just make them walk the plank...ahoy there!

How'dy kiddywinks

Well I am new to this blogging lark, sure I have dabbled in a variety of internet escapades but never at such an intimate and direct level. Basically I felt with the new direction my life is heading it would be a good idea to capture what and where that direction will end up leading me. I want to use this blog as a sort of open journal-which yes I do guess a blog really is-it will be like my internal monologue being transmitted through cybernet with pictures (hopefully when I become more technically adept)
A little bit about me then;

I am 18 only a few months to go till I reach the final year of my teen years cue nostalgic sigh ah no more excuses for mood swings and phase delay (honestly mum it does exist we learnt it in psychology)
I was born in Crawley, United Kingdom but currently live in a small town near Brighton the town of seaside oohlala, fish and chips, sea salty air, the pier, a burnt down pier and some of the best people you will ever come across.
I am moving down- yes down- to Cornwall where I shall be a student at the University of Exeter's Cornwall Campus studying-gasp-Law. Yes, ever since I was 8 I have wanted to be a lawyer then finally a Judge if all goes to plan. I know Lawyer for an 8 year old is a weird career choice but I learnt early on that I had no talents, I never did ballet, I can't sing or play an instrument and drawing you must be kidding me my artistic abilities only extend to shoddy stick men and even that is up to debate. So careers like singer, artist, dancer were out of the question, astronaut whoops I hate heights and space freaks me out its sooo big, doctor haha blood freaks out, princess...I was to much of a tomboy to wear dresses and I am too short and unphotogenic to ever become a model though I do love ANTM. My loves have always centred around reading, writing, talking and debating, I love a good debate so Law it was. It is so satisfying to get closer to a dream that I have fantasised about for the last 10 years.
I love such a mix of things that I am sure you will all decipher that I am just plain weird in my own special way, so please sit back and experience what I experience as I go through the whole Uni experience from buying salt and pepper mills, packing, buying pirate hats and fake blood on ebay, freshers and all the course overload I can take :D
La Brighton - And this photo is not my property belongs to BathImpact
